Cosmetics

We believe all dentistry is cosmetic as we aim to reproduce the look and feel of natural teeth.

‘Adult orthodontics’ can often be achieved without the need for ‘braces’. Composite resin and ceramics can recontour minor misalignments. These include Ceramic Crowns and Veneers. Almost any smile can be redesigned or enhanced.

Whitening

This is often a simple and cost effective means of lightening your smile. We will discuss the cause of discolouration and any discoloured fillings etc that may need additional treatment prior to commencement.

Missing teeth

Many options exist. A tooth can often be removed and replaced at the same appointment to maintain your smile.

Implants are a fantastic option for permanent replacement.
They can also be ideal to add retention to loose fitting dentures.

Bridges Ceramic or composite can be used as a fixed / non-removable
option for missing teeth in the right situation.

Dentures. We adjoin Bay Denture Studio, where either Tom, Gael or Tay
will look after you, in consultation with us.

Hygienist

A Dental Hygienist works with the Dentist to achieve your optimal oral health needs.

Our main concern is:

• Periodontal (gum) disease
• Assisting patients achieve their best oral hygiene practices
• Application of preventative materials to the teeth and gums

At your dental hygienist appointment, you will have an initial consultation of your health and current homecare practices.

Your teeth and gums will be thoroughly checked and based on this, the appropriate treatment plan will commence e.g. removal of soft plaque and calculus/hard deposits and tartar.
Research shows that periodontal disease can have an impact on an individual’s health issues and diseases. Thorough and regular removal of these deposits will help prevent diseases.

Are you concerned about bleeding gums or bad breath then come and see our Dental Hygienist to help you with your oral hygiene needs.

And at the end of the treatment you will have clean, healthy teeth and gums.

Implants

A dental implant is a titanium ‘screw’ that replaces a missing natural tooth. An implant, or implants, may be a better option than a removable partial denture, or a non removable ceramic bridge.

They can be a wonderful solution to gain better ‘retention’ and therefore resolve the ‘loose full denture’ problem. We are lucky to work alongside Tay in the denture laboratory to coordinate this.

A thorough consultation, often requiring a 3-d scan, is a good start to assess your suitability and thorough estimate of cost and time frame.

Surgery

Removal of wisdom teeth, routine, or difficult teeth can be aided with oral sedation.

Preparation of a site for Implants and Implant placement is also offered, prior to final restoration with a ceramic Crown.

Home Care

Teeth and gum care is generally fairly simple. If you brush well and regularly, and minimise sugar intake, you are most of the way there.

Our role is to help guide you in technique and fill in any gaps. We will analyse any medications, or medical conditions which may have an effect. Difficult areas, such as food traps, can be not only incredibly annoying, but often end up as as a more serious problem. These can usually be rectified very easily.

Children and Under 18s

Early visits by children are important to get them used to the environment, hopefully before they need any treatment. Bring any youngsters along for your checkups and let them ride in the chair for fun.

We will gladly treat any under 18s but as we do not have a contract with the Ministry of Health, there will be a charge. We can, however, refer you to a MOH practice.

Orthodontics and teeth straightening

We will discuss any concerns regarding cosmetic realignment. We can assess all options, including orthodontics.

If there are functional, or health issues, or we would like an expert opinion to gain a predictable outcome, we will refer you to Rachel Moore, a specialist Orthodontist, in Whangarei.
